There are many ways to go around in Koh Samui. The easiest way is to go with Song Thaew. A Song Thaew is a truck or pick-up that have been modified with 2 long seats along each side. The word Song Thaew means 2 seats and in english it´s known as Baht Bus. Some Song Thaew can take up to 40 passenger but in most cases about 16 passenger is normal.

Other transportation's in Koh Samui are with cars, taxi and motorcycle taxi. This is also an easy way and not very expensive. Let the taximeter running or make a price deal before you go.

Transportations to Koh Samui

Ferry pier - Koh Samui

There are many ways to get to Koh Samui.
You can go with airplane from Bangkok with several airplane company like, Bangkok airways, Thai air, One-Two-Go and more. The first thing you have to do is to get an airplane ticket. Then you have to go to Bangkok airport. If you first fly to Bangkok, then you must take care of your luggage because they do not automatically change the luggage to your flight to Koh Samui. Bangkok Airways is flying directly to Koh Samui and when you land in Samui airport you should have your pickup service waiting for you from your hotel.

Other air company land in Surat Thani. When you land in Surat Thani after about 1 hour, then you can take the bus to Koh Samui. The price for the ferry when you go with the bus is included in the ticket price to Koh Samui from Surat Thani. It takes about 3 hours from Surat Thani to Koh Samui with the ferry included.

 

Transportation by Train

It is also possible to travel to Koh Samui by train and then take the ferry from Surat Thani to Koh Samui. You can see the time table below.
