Attractions in Koh Samui and Surat Thani
Samuis finest and most popular beaches are Hat Chaweng beach and Hat Lamai bech. But if you want do do something more than spend time on the beach, then Koh Samui has a lot of attractions.
Koh Samui has plenty of things to see and do.
Mu Ko Ang Thong National Marine Park is about 20 km northwest of Koh Samui. This national park covers about 250 square km and 40 islands. Many of the islans have beautifu beaches and caves and the coral formations are fantastic.
You are not allowed to spend the the night on the islands and if you want to visit the park then you have to contact a tour agancy.
Na Thian Butterfly Garden (Wat Phra Yai)
Na Thian Butterfly Garden is the place to go if you like to se beautiful butterflies, bees and flowers. Na Thian Butterfly garden is located south of Koh Samui.
Temple of the Big Buddha

A 12 meter high golden statue of Buddha built in 1972 has become a landmark for Koh Samui. This place is monastery and used for meditation by thai people and even foreigners. Big Buddha temple can be found near Koh Samui airport on the north east side of the island. Worth a visit.

The Statue Garden
A local sculptor named Khun Nim has made a number of Buddhist and Hindu statues in this garden. The Statue Garden can be reached by taking the track opposite of Wat Khunaram and is located near the highest point in Koh Samui.
Animal Farms and Shows
Monkey & Elephant Shows is something you must see. Monkeys in Samui are mans best friend and under centuries they have learned to climb and pick coconuts. In the elephant shows, you can see how intelligent they are and even see them play football.

Samui Crocodile Farm gives you entertainment with saltwater crocodiles, Siam crocodiles, caimans, snakes, lizards, and monkeys.
For 250 THB you can visit Samui Aquarium and Tiger Zoo.They have open from 09:00 - 16:00 every day.
The Monkey Training Center are located in Tambon Bo Phut and have shows every day 10:30, 14:00 and 16:00. Entry fee: 150 THB / person.
Hin Ta - Hin Ya

Hin Ta - Hin Ya is two strange shaped rocks in south of Lami. The story says that an old couple ship waswrecked in the bay and that their bodyss were washed ashore to create theese rocks. |
